    A Guide To Taobao

    What is Taobao? 

     Taobao is a large Chinese shopping website, similar to eBay featuring thousands and thousands of individual stores supplying a wide range of products including anime merchandise and Japanese street fashion. 


    To buy from Taobao you will need a shopping service (SS) since Taobao only delivers within China. A few reliable and popular Shoping services used are: Taobaospree and Taobaonow, however there are many more options to choose from if you look around. 
    To Alice

    The currency used is Yuan (¥) The prices of the products tend to be low but remember you have to include shopping service fees and shipping fee's on-top. Also keep in mind, you might get charged customs if your order is over a certain amount.


    Some products will have weird prices such as "999" or "9999", this is a way to say that the product is sold out or not yet available. 

     Sizes: Most stores carry one sized clothes, sometimes S/M/L, but  measurements can vary a lot. Some helpful word you might see as part of measurements:
    腰围 /中腰 : waist                                          
    臀围 : hips                                                     
    胸围 : bust                                                     
    肩宽 : shoulder to shoulder length              
    袖围 : sleeve cuff circumference
    袖長 : sleeve length
    衣长 : general length of item


    It's also possible to view an item on either Buychina or Yoybuy where you copy and paste the taobao url into the url bar on the website. 


    Taobao stores have feedback scores that start with hearts (The lowest) and go up to gold crowns (The highest).

     At the top of every Taobao page will be an orange search bar where you can type in what you want to find and look through the "Babys" (AKA products)

    Today's article is about the top 10 things any Lolita should have in their bag when going to a meetup, a convention or any other day to day activity. There are more then 10 and every Lolita has different needs however this article just focuses on 10 that will come in handy. 





    1. A comb/ brush
    So your fringe can easily be sorted out.



    2. Eyelash case

    1. Kawaii plushies
    Plushies of Kawaii character such as My Melody, Hello Kitty, Arpakasso's and Rilakkuma are a perfect, cute and inexpensive idea. eBay is a good and cheap place to go to look for ones within a budget.



    2. Hair accessories 
    Hair accessories such as Hair bows, hair-clips and other hair accessorizes such as star shaped clips are a perfect idea and most of them are under £15. If you want, you can also buy brand hair accessories for an affordable price.



    3. Jewellery

    Hiya, how are you? Today's post is a few ideas for a Lolita lifestyle. A Lifestyle lolita is a term referring to a Lolita who doesn't just wears Lolita but want to add a touch of elegance or Princess-ness to their life. A Lolita lifestyle is different to the individual however here a few ideas:


    Decorate your room

    Your room is one of the rooms you spend the most time in so decorate your room to fit in with your favourite style. If you can't paint your walls you can still have a room fitting with your sugary sweet tastes. Show your favorite clothes and accessories on display. Also decorate your room with your favorite Kawaii characters.



    Food 
    Add a sprinkle of Kawaii to your food (Just like Momoko from Kamikaze girls- picture below) You don't need to eat sweet things for a cute touch. Japanese Bento's follow a healthy look along with occasional Japanese characters such as cats made out of rice. 

    If you don't want to make your food look cute you can use cute knifes and forks or even chopsticks. 


    Deco cases 

    Throguhgout the internet are countless stores selling deco cases for phones and ipods. Using one can easily create a more Kawaii or Lolita feel. You can also create your own! 

    Pen-pals

    Get a Lolita pen-pal and send letters on Kawaii paper! Besides being an adorable idea , it's also a fun thing to do to make friends.

    Magazines
    Collect and read Lolita magazines such as the Lolita bible and Kera 

    Vintage toys 
    Collect vintage toys such as My Little pony, Polly pocket and others. Also the "Monster High" and "Ever after high" doll lines have slightly Lolita inspired coords.


    Momoko 

    Properly the most famous lifestyle Lolita. 

    She's one of the main two characters in Kamikaze girls, a Japanese film/novel/manga written by Novala Takemoto about a Lolita called Momoko who lives in the country side and is obsessed with Rococo period when she meets a Yanki called Ichigo who she befriends.


     The film is a friendship comedy that you should watch! She dresses in Lolita every day ( BTSSB), eats a pink bento, she listens to classical musical (You don't need to listen to it to be a Lifestyle Lolita!) Her room is also filled with her clothes.

    ♥Todays post is a joined review. The dates are slightly old as I brought It  while ago and only just got it for my birthday. I brought a Dream Fantasy salopette by the Japanese brand "Angelic Pretty" of a Japanese biding site called "Yahoo Japan". Since Yahoo Japan is a Japanese website, to order you need to use a SS (Shopping Service) A friend recommended the SS "Tokyo Pirates" which I decided to use.♥
    Timeline:
    15th Jan- I sent the message 
    16th Jan- Jamie asked if I wanted her to bid or to buy it now. I responded asking for buy it now
    17th Jan- Jamie sent me the invoice however it didn't show up
    18th Jan- It showed up and I paid. Jamie shortly after paid 
    25th Jan- The salopette arrived at Jamie's.
    1st Feb- Jamie sent the invoice 
    4th Feb- I paid 
    6th Feb- Jamie informed me that she had sent the salopette of a few days before
    15th Feb- It arrived 

    I forgot to take a picture of the parsel however there was no damage (Which is good since sometimes customs are not careful with them) 

    Inside, It was carefully wrapped in a Closet Child (A Japanese clothes resale store) bag: 
    A sweet little note was also included:

    Angelic Pretty
    Angelic pretty is a popular Lolita fashion store. To find out more information click here to read Shalisa's post on all about Angelic Pretty. The item I brought of Yahoo Japan is the salopette version of "Dream Fantasy" which was the 2013 new year lucky pack item. The print features bunnys sitting on crescent moons holding balloons, bunny's sleeping on stars and bunnies sitting on shooting stars.Here's a picture of the print: 

    The salopette
    The salopette is really adorable with the pastel colours and spell bounding print which is really clear. 
    It also has pockets! 

    And here is a closeup of the print, showing the logo, shooting stars, balloons, ponys, castles, bears, clouds and stars. The print is so cute!
    The back also has shirring so it will fit larger sizes. 
    The lable features the infamous Angelic Pretty Logo inside: The top bit on the inside is also printed and as you can see in the corner, there's a sip.
    The straps are adjustable! 
    The Lace is really detailed with little bunnys sewn in.
