Recently Face masks are being seen more in more in fashion street snaps from places such as Shibuya and Harajuku. If you go to Japan or other places in Asia, your likely to see people walking about in this fashion trend. But what are the reasons behind this? Where can you buy them? Find out this article. What are the reasons why people usually wear face masks?


1) To keep their illness (Such as a cold) to themselves or to stop it from getting worse.


2) To not catch a cold in the first place.


3) In the cold, Face masks can serve as a protective layer over the bottom half of your face to keep you warm.


4) For fashion





What styles can you incorporate face masks into?


Any style! Even if your coord is not J fashion related, you can still wear a face mask since they are generalized.


Face masks are casually seen with Gyaru, Fairy Kei and even Lolita. 


Printed masks 
While you can get plain ones, brands have started to make unique printed ones with add a touch of Kawaii to a simple item. In the two bellow you can see a pastel pink Hello Kitty mask which is perfect for lighter styles such as Fairy Kei meanwhile on the right you can see a black mask with a "?" as the main empress.

It's November and the weather is starting to get colder.


 This time of the year people may want to just keep warm instead of Kawaii with layers of coats, boots, scarfs and mundane clothes. 


However you can still dress up cute, you can still look Kawaii while trying to keep warm.


 In this article will be some tips for wearing Fairy Kei in Winter. 




What is Fairy Kei? 

Fairy Kei ("Fairy Fashion") is a Japanese Street fashion made out of pastel colours (Although dark colours can still be used). More and more people oversea's have started wearing the style, and it has quickly become the most popular kawaii style, after lolita. 


The style is easily confused with similair styles such as Pop Kei or Decora.

Now onto the keep warm tips!

Layers! 
The style itself often consists of layers so adding extra to keep warm won't look out of place. Layering can also be pretty simple if you have a pre-existing Fairy Kei wardrobe. If you don't, some good places to start buying some clothes for layering are: SpreepickyHimi storeManiaq and MilkLim.

Boots will help keep your feet/legs warm and can also look cute with Fairy Kei.

Decoden or Dekoden which is short for "Decoration Denwa". Denwa means phone, the translation is literately Decoration phone. Despite having "Phone" in the name, Decoden can be used on anything from phone cases, to nails, to circle lenses cases to mirrors. Hope you enjoy it!

It is possible to buy decoden phone cases and other objects online. For phones they usually fit smartphones such as iPhones or Samsung Galaxy. Before buying you have to double check that it will fit what type of phone your buying it for.

Supplies Decoden nails, phone cases and supplies to make your own. It is a little pricy ($39.99 for the  Decoden nails below) however they do have a lot of designs perfect for Hime Gyaru.

Online you can buy plain phone cases which you can use for decoden. You can also decorate your camera,  mirror case or anything you can decorate.
