Surving Fairy Kei in the Summer heat

It's that time of the year again where layers on layers and thick wigs are getting harder to wear. Fairy Kei is all about the layers which makes it seem impossible to wear during the summer however there are a few simple tips to surviving summer while wearing Fairy Kei.

Don't layer up too much, Your health is more important then getting a certain amount of layers!

Hair

It's best to keep the wigs to the side however if you do decide you still want to wear them, take a hair brush and a wig storage bag just in case it gets too hot and you decide you want to take it off. When its hot its best to stick to showing off your own hair whatever colour it is. You can easily make your real hair cute through srunchies, hair clips and more. Tying your hair up into bunches, odango, ponytails or even plaits help keep your hair of the back of your neck.

Shorts

For a cheap price, you can get mint coloured shorts in Primark which are perfect for the hot days. There are also a variety of stores online where you can get pastel shorts perfect for Fairy Kei. Click here to see the shorts in the picture on the right. The ones on the left are from bodyline.

Fans

Hand fans can help you cool down when in the heat. If you don't want an ordianary hand fan, you can get a variety of styles such as ones with anime characters printed on. For example, the fans in the picture on the right can be purchased here.

Short socks/Laced tights

If you want to, you can still wear OTK/Thigh high socks as you usually would but summer is the perfect chance to wear short socks (You can even buy cute frilly socks from brands such as Angelic Pretty) if you are confortable showing of your legs. If your not comfortable, wear a pair of laced tights under your socks.

Sleeves and dresses

Keep to short sleeves/ vest tops. Dresses are also another good option as they limit the amount of layers worn. Taobao is a good place to look for tops and dresses.

Wear suncream and keep hydrated!

Unless you want to get burned, remember to wear sun cream with whatever you are wearing! Also remember to keep hydrated, especially if your going to be inside a stuffy building or doing lots of walking. Recently Face masks are being seen more in more in fashion street snaps from places such as Shibuya and Harajuku. If you go to Japan or other places in Asia, your likely to see people walking about in this fashion trend. But what are the reasons behind this? Where can you buy them? Find out this article. What are the reasons why people usually wear face masks?

1) To keep their illness (Such as a cold) to themselves or to stop it from getting worse.

2) To not catch a cold in the first place.

3) In the cold, Face masks can serve as a protective layer over the bottom half of your face to keep you warm.

4) For fashion

What styles can you incorporate face masks into?

Any style! Even if your coord is not J fashion related, you can still wear a face mask since they are generalized.

Face masks are casually seen with Gyaru, Fairy Kei and even Lolita.

Printed masks

While you can get plain ones, brands have started to make unique printed ones with add a touch of Kawaii to a simple item. In the two bellow you can see a pastel pink Hello Kitty mask which is perfect for lighter styles such as Fairy Kei meanwhile on the right you can see a black mask with a "?" as the main empress.

♥trick or treat? It's not long now till 31st of October, also known as Halloween, the time of the year when bats, skeleton hands,Pumpkins and more creepy cue delights can be found. For today's post I will be giving you a few tips for wearing Lolita on Halloween and even some ideas about a Halloween themed coord.

Halloween inspired coord!!!

Every day of the year,Lolita's are asked if they are wearing a costume so on the one day of the year it is important to wear Lolita as a fashion but not a costume. You can bend a few of the Lolita rules (As long as you still have the shape) If you have basic Lolita wardrobe it can be easy to create a Halloween inspired coord. For Halloween darker colours are usually used however pastels can be used.

Brand halloween products!!

♥Lolita brands such as Angelic Pretty and BtSSB often realize Halloween themed products such as the Angelic Pretty witch themed set. Last year AP realized Holly Lantern, an OP/JSK with a cross print. Halloween is a good chance to collect Halloween themed clothes and accessories!

Idea's for themed coords you can make from a basic Lolita wardrobe:
